Canine hydrotherapy spas are becoming increasingly popular around the UK which is no surprise given the results they provide. With this project the hydrotherapy spa was originally built and finished with tiles, however very quickly the owner noticed the spa was losing a considerable volume of water through the grout in the tiles. Some water loss is expected especially in pools and spas that are both heated and used regularly, however increased water loss leads to significantly increased costs in water and heating bills. It was therefore paramount that a solution was found quickly. When the spa was originally built the only way into the spa was via a set of steps, usually this would have been fine for humans however it did prove difficult for the injured dogs. Before we were asked to line the pool the steps were converted into a gradual slope using plywood, as our linings are seamless and provide reinforcing to a structure this change was not a problem. As you can see in the pictures below we finished our lining in a pale blue to complement the surrounding tiles, we had also coated the new slope and entire floor in non-slip surface which made use of the spa much for safe for the dogs and the therapist. Our GRP lining completely stopped the water loss issue, it had accommodated the addition of a safer alternative to the original steps and was more than adequate in coping with the high water temperatures associated with hydrotherapy spas. We were very happy with the outcome of this spa and providing a solution to a worthy cause.
This project was situated at the same site where we completed a refurbishment at a holiday park swimming pool (http://www.fibreglass-lining.com/holiday-park-swimming-pool-refurbishment/). As well as the swimming pool the park also had an outdoor tiled hot tub, within a short space of time a large amount of tiles were falling off of the hot tub. Not only was this a large inconvenience to the park owner as the tiles constantly needed refitting, it was also costly and unpleasing to the eye. We were asked to fill in the spaces where tiles were missing and GRP line over the whole hot tub, as mentioned in a previous post (http://www.fibreglass-lining.com/domestic-pool-wrinkled-liner-high-water-table/) our materials are of the highest specification which means our linings can easily cope with the temperatures you would expect to find in a hot tub. We also made the floor of the hot tub non-slip to allow the safety of users. As shown in the pictures we lined the hot tub in a white finish, this complemented the chrome surrounding the returns to give it a more modern look and also complemented the adjacent swimming pool which was also finished in white.
